Special Judge Election

This will be a special election in which I will be running for a one year term. (Normally a four year term)This will be so that my term ends at the same time as the judge in Branch 1. The Village is going back to a one judge, one court system. We ended up with two courts, two judges, after the merger of the Village of Silver Lake and the Town of Salem. We are now the Village of Salem Lakes. Next April 2021, there will be another election in which one judge will be selected by the people to be the only judge in the Village of Salem Lakes. It has been an honor to serve in this position for the past 15 years and I hope with your vote to continue on. Thanks... Judge Mike Langel

Welcome

A Quick Background

Served my country in the U.S.Army 1970-1972

I've done handyman, factory, farm, real estate, judicial and volunteer firefighter work. I grew up in Bristol, and moved to Salem in 1976. Arlene is my wife of 50 years in May. (God bless her patience.)

Two children, Sandy and Dan. Twin granddaughters, Savannah & Madison.

As your Municipal Judge

If you come into my court, expect fair treatment.

An attorney is not necessary. (unless you want one)

Generally, I offer Community Service Work rather than monetary fines, for juveniles found guilty of truancy violations.

My goal is that each person who leaves the courtroom will feel as though he/she was treated fairly, respectfully and with dignity. That each individual is given the chance to present their case in a manner which they feel comfortable.

Please don't have that "what's the use", feeling about going to court. I make no decisions before hearing your case.  I don't take sides with anyone. It is my job to stay neutral and oversee the process, so that all sides concerned receive fair treatment.
